Abstract

A prototype inspection system using a holographic contouring method with computer image processing has been developed for measuring the surface materials lost from art objects by weathering and acid rain. Holographic patterns relating to marble and limestone models exposed to dilute sulfuric acid and methods that can be used to retrieve metrological information are discussed.
