We present measurements of the (a, b) plane excess conductivity Delta sigma in several Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+x single crystals through a multiterminal technique. We find that the measured aa do not show an universal behaviour. We discuss this data in terms of Gaussian fluctuations in a nearly-two-dimensional superconductor above Tc, introducing a phenomenological cutoff in the fluctuative spectrum. All our data follow the extended theory up to T approximate to 1.3T(c). While the resulting cutoff differs from sample to sample, the numerical values of the cutoff are always in the expected range o(xi (-1)).
