In this essay some different theoretical and practical approaches to architectures restoration are discussed. The Author explains the performances and the problems in Fontana Maggiore to-day’s restoration works and projects by means of appropriate researches based on historical investigations and critical observations about typological and structural meanings of the monument. Pugliano also describes the complex actual organization of the restoration yard devoted to remove the inadequate interventions, dated at 1948 and based on the use of concrete masonry, for replacing them with more proper solution inspired to the building lexicon and to the technical characteristics of the monument.
