This multilingual publication (Italian, Spanish, English) gathers together the texts presented during the homonymous international conference held at the Roma Tre Faculty of Architecture in Rome on the 12 and 13 November 2007, promoted and coordinated by Francesco Cellini, also the author of the first presentation, entitled “Le case Icp degli anni ’20 e ’30 a Roma: una tradizione di qualità” – “Iacp Public Housing from the 1920s and 30s in Rome: A Tradition of Quality”. The texts, in addition to that that by prof Cellini, also include presentations made by the Italian professors and researchers Stefano Cordeschi, Paolo Desideri, Luca Montuori and Ranieri Valli, together with those by illustrious foreign experts on housing: Frits van Dongen, Dick van Gameren, Floor Arons and Arnoud Gelauff from The Netherlands, and Andrés Canova and José Mata from Spain. The book is completed by a published transcription of the closing debate. The objective of the conference, strictly linked with the research into the theme of housing promoted by Francesco Cellini (see below, as well as the book: M. Farina (ed.), Studi sulla casa urbana: sperimentazioni e temi di progetto) was that of critically and directly reflecting on the rich quantity of research, studies and experiments related to this theme, offered by international contemporary architectural and professional culture The article looks at the complex interactions between private and public operators in the construction of residential buildings with special and complex mix typological mode of allocation of housing in a variety of applications. In particular, analyzing the first concrete example of implementation of works related to the masterplan for the area of " Giustiniano Imperatore " in Rome, the author looks at the possible paths that preserves the the economic sustainability of the interventions for investors, together with the public interest in implementation of measures of quality in the consolidated city fabric.
