Discusses the trade in musicalia between Italy, Germany, and Austria; and reconstructs the extent, and the locations, channels, preferences and audiences involved in the circulation of editions of Viennese classic music in Italy. In addition, the history of the terms classical and classic in German and Italian musical culture from the 18th c. to current usage is examined.
Il volume ricostruisce il processo di diffusione della musica classica austro-tedesca (principalmente Haydn, Mozart e Beethoven) in Italia tra la fine del 18. e i primi anni del 19. secolo. Illustra inoltre le conseguenze di tale diffusione sulla storia della ricezione e dei vicendevoli rapporti tra la cultura musicale italiana e la tedesca, anche sul piano della storiografia critica. Il volume contiene infine un'analisi storico-lessicologica dei termini "classico" e "classicismo" in musica.
