The paper starts from the particular relationship with reality proposed in recent years by some Italian films, that can not properly be classified as fiction films, nor documentaries. Increasingly, the Italian contemporary cinema makes protagonists of its stories territories, locations, movements of the characters in the space: from such a perspective, Gian Franco Rosi’s Sacro GRA and Fuocoammare are proposed as examples. Finally, the concept of immanence, suggested by Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari in their geophilosophy, is used as a key to reflect on that cinema that explores the territory following the encounters and the causal paths.
