Reconstructing the intangible heritage in areas damaged by earthquakes Based on experiences of memorable earthquakes in the 19th and 20th centuries, the author explains how a rational approach to the study of the phenomena has grown. This experimental approach during the last quarter of the 20th century was applied to the observation of the results of the Friuli and Irpinia disasters. Based on these experiences, an analytic and design model has been created both for the physical reconstruction of damaged sites and the promotion of the intangible heritage composed of architectural languages and local technical know-how. In line with these premises, the paper indicates the appropriate tool for rebuilding sites damaged by earthquakes in the 21st century.

Abstract
Reconstructing the intangible heritage in areas damaged by earthquakes Based on experiences of memorable earthquakes in the 19th and 20th centuries, the author explains how a rational approach to the study of the phenomena has grown. This experimental approach during the last quarter of the 20th century was applied to the observation of the results of the Friuli and Irpinia disasters. Based on these experiences, an analytic and design model has been created both for the physical reconstruction of damaged sites and the promotion of the intangible heritage composed of architectural languages and local technical know-how. In line with these premises, the paper indicates the appropriate tool for rebuilding sites damaged by earthquakes in the 21st century.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
