The drawing contributed in the analysis of the city. With it man has tried, over the centuries, and for different purposes, to study and represent the morphology of the city. The research ranges from the analysis of urban representation to the systematic cataloging of the relevant instruments and the extent of the construction. New observations by the analysis of the Imola plan where are traced the points measured by Leonardo. A centuries later new technologies for the urban survey do not differ much from the Renaissance methods.
