Practices aimed at creating terror and fear in the population for political purposes, repressive policies based on discriminatory assumptions, propaganda strategies aimed at identify enemy – whether internal or external to the community of concern –, “politics of hate”, have spanned centuries and continents, but reached unprecedented levels during the Twentieth century. In the course of history, the process of creating the image of the “enemy” has often taken place among people of the same nationality, but strategies aimed at the construction of external enemies were equally widespread.
