This paper proposes to extend the theme of the border from an historical and geographical point of view to a linguistic one. Heteroglossia, hybrid utterance, interlingua and polyphony are some of the terms used in Bakhtin's conceptual framework to describe the coexistence of different languages within a single "language" in literary discourse. Francophone text by its nature contains a powerful and persistent heteroglossia that links to the presence of the border in the field of postcolonial literature. For writers who are witnesses of colonization, and who belong to francophone culture, this approach, as an epistemology, can be affected by a conflict, by a dialogue, or by a polyphonic writing practice. Through the analysis of linguistic patterns of enunciation, the representation of the voice of the Other is the object of our exploration.
