The aim of this contribution is to exploit composite vortex theory to manipulate the beam reflected by a single metasurface. In particular, by structuring the metasurface for reflecting both a vortex and a vortex-free component, its scattering pattern can be tailored according to the amplitude and phase of the two components. Full-wave numerical simulations confirm the effectiveness of the proposed approach, which could find applications for beam-shaping at different frequency ranges.

Abstract

The aim of this contribution is to exploit composite vortex theory to manipulate the beam reflected by a single metasurface. In particular, by structuring the metasurface for reflecting both a vortex and a vortex-free component, its scattering pattern can be tailored according to the amplitude and phase of the two components. Full-wave numerical simulations confirm the effectiveness of the proposed approach, which could find applications for beam-shaping at different frequency ranges.
