Early language learning cannot be fully appreciated without understanding the young language learner. Insights into young learner characteristics can help us explain learner behaviour as well as their learning achievements. In this account of a longitudinal study, young learners’ characteristics and their evolution were analysed in terms of their motivation as well as their attitudes to foreign language learning. Learner characteristics and language achievement were related and compared in order to find out whether there was a match between them. Young language learner profiles were developed. -

Abstract
Early language learning cannot be fully appreciated without understanding the young language learner. Insights into young learner characteristics can help us explain learner behaviour as well as their learning achievements. In this account of a longitudinal study, young learners’ characteristics and their evolution were analysed in terms of their motivation as well as their attitudes to foreign language learning. Learner characteristics and language achievement were related and compared in order to find out whether there was a match between them. Young language learner profiles were developed. -I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
