This essay focuses on the American tournées of Jersey born actress Lillie Langtry, the friend of Oscar Wilde and lover of the Prince of Wales. Within a narrative of American myths she certainly played an important role: by being a beauty, acting on stage, becoming rich, and being involved with millionaires she ended up with a great number of fans so much so that a far west city was named after her. Langtry as an icon of beauty is looked at from the perspective of cultural studies.
