Architettura e arti visive. Territori e prospettive di un dialogo

Only ten years ago the hypothesis that there could be a common land of exchange between visual arts and architecture was seen with fear and suspicion, as if the mere contact of a sphere of expression with the other could weaken or damage the already precarious structural conditions of the individual disciplines and the architecture in particular. There were no specific critical contributions that were able to tackle this subject directly and in a sufficiently wide way. It lacked an update of several important studies that highlighted the relationship between the avant-garde art and the modern movement in the early decades of the '900. The text asks itself about the actual nature of these relationships and, above all, the possible theoretical and methodological reflections on our discipline.

Solo dieci anni fa l’ipotesi che potesse esistere un terreno comune di scambio tra arti visive e architettura era vista ancora con timore e sospetto, come se il solo contatto di un ambito espressivo con l’altro potesse in qualche modo indebolire o, addirittura, nuocere alle già precarie condizioni strutturali delle singole discipline e dell’architettura in particolare. Non vi erano contributi critici specifici che affrontassero questo tema in maniera diretta e sufficientemente ampia e mancava un aggiornamento dei numerosi e importantissimi studi che avevano messo in luce i rapporti esistenti tra le avanguardie artistiche e il movimento moderno nei primi decenni del ’900. Il testo si domanda quale possa essere oggi la natura di tali rapporti e, soprattutto, i possibili riflessi di carattere teorico e metodologico sulla nostra disciplina.
