The old textual problem in Vergil, Bucolics, 4, 62f. The arguments of the supporters of Quintilian’s text (as emended by Politian and Bonnell) are scrutinized and criticized. Abstract
The old textual problem in Vergil, Bucolics, 4, 62f. (divergence between the text as transmitted by Vergil’s manuscripts and commented by Servius, and the text as quoted by Quintilian, inst. 9. 3, 8) is examined anew. The arguments of the supporters of Quintilian’s text (as emended by Politian and Bonnell) are scrutinized and criticized. New intertextual links are pointed to, suggesting that after all the Vergilian paradosis (cui non risere parentes) was already echoed in Horace’s Ars.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
