In our consumerist society the body is more and more celebrated, manipulated, accessorized: indeed we overcame moral taboos which made it impossible to freely dispose of our body sine recent years. However this conquered right soon became object of political discourse, aimed at defining possible processes of “changing” the body, from procreation to euthanasia. Still more important, the anthropology of contemporary body articulated in this book is also faced to an essential challenge: to account for the different bodily experiences of migrants, whose conduct is submitted to the rigid discipline of political power – always expressed in the form of a bodily correcteness encompassing changes that subjects operate on themselves, but that are also imposed by external powers.

Abstract
In our consumerist society the body is more and more celebrated, manipulated, accessorized: indeed we overcame moral taboos which made it impossible to freely dispose of our body sine recent years. However this conquered right soon became object of political discourse, aimed at defining possible processes of “changing” the body, from procreation to euthanasia. Still more important, the anthropology of contemporary body articulated in this book is also faced to an essential challenge: to account for the different bodily experiences of migrants, whose conduct is submitted to the rigid discipline of political power – always expressed in the form of a bodily correcteness encompassing changes that subjects operate on themselves, but that are also imposed by external powers.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
