The main goals of this essay are: 1) to examine the extent to which the art is, for Hegel, "Bildung" especially in Berlin; 2) to determine the overlapping of art and religion and to describe the consequences of this intertwining for education; 3) to describe the significance of the all-pervasive aesthetic education in a pre-state dimension in order to show what effects can be observed in the modernity shaped according to the principles of Christian education and also, when art fits into a society regulated by the state; finally, 4) to explore the meaning of education to the general through art in the modern age, in order to be able to assess whether aesthetics still has an can still make an indispensable contribution to today's education of humanity whereby, as Hegel says, aesthetic education is clearly distinguished from theoretical and practical education.
