Preserving Chengde. Preliminary studies and research in anticipation of a Conservation Master Plan for Changde Mountain Resort and its Outlying Temples

This volume contains a collection of studies and analyses carried out during a "First Assessment Phase" prior to the creation of a "Conservation Master Plan for Chengde Mountain Resort and its Outlying Temples". The Mountain Resort and its Outlying Temples,located at Chengde, in Hubei Province, P.R.C.,is a highly significant site for its historical, artistic and scientific resources. The research activities reported herein were carried out during the multidisciplinary training course titled " The Conservation of Ancient Monuments and Historic Sites". The course was organized by the Sino-Italian Conservation Training Center (Beijing) in 2007 as part of a project founded by the Italian Development Cooperation, branch of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; it was conducted by the Italian Institute for Africa and the Orient (Is.I.A.O.).

Il volume contiene una raccolta di studi e analisi condotte durante la "Prima fase di assessment" preliminare alla realizzazione di un Master Plan degli aspetti conservativi del sito denominato Chengde Mountain Resort and its Outlying Temples", localizzato nella Provincia dello Hubei, Repubblica Popolare Cinese, sito di grande rilevanza per le sue caratteristiche storiche e artistiche e iscritto nella Lista del Patrimonio dell'Umanità dell'UNESCO. Le ricerche di cui si offre un dettagliato resoconto nel volume, furono condotte nell'ambito del Corso di Specializzazione multidisciplinare denominato "Conservazione dei monumenti e dei siti storici". Il corso venne realizzato nel 2007 nell'ambito delle attività del Sino-Italian Conservation Training Center (Beijing), come parte del progetto promosso dalla Cooperazione Italiana allo Sviluppo, organo del Moinistero degli Affari Esteri italiano e venne realizzato dall'Istituto Italiano per l'Africa e l'Oriente Is.I.A.O.
