This book focuses on the meaning of the ingenious palindrome that Ezra Pound used to link Rome with love. Rome, and Pound's idea of Rome, are explored from a historical perspective (from antiquity, through the Middle ages, the Renaissance, Modernity and the Fascist Era); in the multifarious artistic expressions of Rome; in its religious and widely cultural contribution to the making of the Western world. The approaches taken by these essay vary, but their common subject is Rome, the capital of Pound's adopted country, and a major source for his poetic inspiration.
