The book, aiming at an interdisciplinary overview of conflict and negotiation, provides definitions and ontologies of conflict and explores its stages from escalation through reconciliation, and the evolution of the emotional and social mechanisms that feed conflict and its resolution is illustrated. The use of argumentative strategies and aggressive communication is investigated by approaches in social psychology, logic and linguistics, and the role of emotions and multimodal communication in conflicts on TV and social media is analyzed. Finally, technologies for conflict detection and simulation are presented aimed at the automatic analysis and understanding of conflict in human-human interactions, and at the training of conflict resolution strategies.
