One of the main reasons people fall into or live in poverty is that they are excluded from justice. In order to tackle child poverty and social exclusion in a time of economic crisis, it is essential to help children and their families to access fair and effective procedures to exercise their rights. This is the goal of CLAIM Child Law: Action for an Innovative Methodology. Thanks to the financial support of the European Commission, CLAIM project ensured legal support to over five hundred children and families in Italy, Greece and Spain by means of the partnership cooperation of Save the Children Italy, EPLO and La Merced Migraciones, together wth the Universities Roma Tre of Rome, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and La Commillas of Madrid. The universities legal clinic courses ensured a substantial scientific support to the three organisations front offices providing legal support. Viceversa, university legal clinics students experienced the implementation of child protection law by practicing at the organizations front offices: an opportunity which has opened the prospects of their future role as lawyers in the society. -
Una delle principali ragioni per cui le persone cadono o restano in povertà è il mancato accesso alla giustizia. Per combattere la povertà minorile e l’esclusione sociale in tempi di crisi economica è essenziale favorire l’approdo di bambini e famiglie a procedure eque ed efficaci per la realizzazione dei diritti loro riconosciuti. Con questo obiettivo, il progetto CLAIM Child Law: Action for an Innovative Methodology, finanziato dalla Commissione Europea, ha garantito supporto legale in oltre cinquecento casi in Italia, Grecia e Spagna, attraverso la collaborazione tra organizzazioni quali Save the Children Italia, EPLO e La Merced Migraciones con le Università di Roma Tre, Atene (Università Nazionale Capodistriana) e Madrid (La Comillas). Il raccordo fra i front office delle tre organizzazioni e i corsi di legal clinic degli atenei ha ancorato l’assistenza legale a un solido patrimonio scientifico e ha permesso agli studenti coinvolti nella cura dei casi di guardare all’applicazione della legge dal punto di vista delle tutele, prospettando in quest’ottica il loro futuro ruolo di giuristi nella società. -
