NOVELTY - The aperture antenna (20) has a frequency selective structure arranged between a receiving element and a waveguide (22). Meta-material structures are partially extended inside receiving element and/or inside waveguide to propagate received radio signals from the receiving element to the waveguide. The received radio signals have frequencies within a predetermined sub-band of the given band of radio frequencies. The frequency selective structure reflects back the received radio signals that have frequencies not comprised in the predetermined sub-band into the receiving element. USE - Aperture antenna e.g. horn antenna, for reflector antenna system (claimed) used in satellite communications and radar system. ADVANTAGE - Offers low-noise aperture antenna. Does not require use of filter component used to eliminate out of band noise contributions.

Abstract
