I think tanks dell'economia italiana dal secondo dopoguerra agli anni novanta del Novecento. Un'idea di progetto di ricerca

The aim of this paper is double. In the first part, I try to explain the scientific value of a research aimed at reconstructing the activities carried out by the main Thinks Tanks of the Italian economy since the end of the Second World War to the Nineties. In general, I argue that Thinks Tanks are a crucial feature to understand the time and space coordinates of the way in which economic theory and policy interact with one another. In the second part of the paper, I study a specific Think Tank, i.e. the experience of CEEP (Studies Centre of Economic Policy), from the foundation in Turin in 1973 to the end of its activities in 1995. Through the analysis of CEEP’s publications, conferences and archives, I aim at reconstructing the contributions economists of this Centre gave to the evolving relationship between economic theorizing and economic policy in Italy.
