Architettura e archeologia

This number of Rassegna collects contributions that address the debated issue of the combination of ancient and new in the archaeological field. The chosen projects deploy a broad perspective, demonstrating, with different methods and solutions, how the architectural project is the instrument with which it is possible to harmoniously combine the conservation of the ruins, with the best use and understanding of archaeological sites. Far from being on a single slope, the proposals presented interact in some cases directly with the remains, with conservation operations, anastylosis or reconstructions in a modern way; in others, they separate from them, with new buildings that contrast or, on the contrary, fit into the landscape. The result is a large and complex range that confirms, once again, that the sensitivity and the interpretative ability of the designers are the key elements for obtaining the architectural quality of the interventions, but also and above all to guarantee the survival of those ancient heritages that need to be preserved.

Il numero raccoglie contributi che affrontano la dibattuta questione dell’accostamento tra antico e nuovo in ambito archeologico. I progetti prescelti dispiegano una prospettiva ampia, dimostrando, con metodi e soluzioni diverse, come sia il progetto di architettura lo strumento con cui è possibile coniugare armonicamente la conservazione dei ruderi, con la migliore fruizione e comprensione dei siti archeologici. Tutt’altro che schierate su un unico versante, le proposte presentate interagiscono in alcuni casi direttamente con le vestigia, con operazioni di conservazione, anastilosi o ricostruzioni in chiave moderna; in altri, si distaccano da esse, con nuovi edifici che contrastano o, al contrario, s’inseriscono nel paesaggio. Ne scaturisce un quadro ampio e complesso che conferma, ancora una volta, che la sensibilità e la capacità interpretativa dei progettisti costituiscono gli elementi chiave per ottenere la qualità architettonica degli interventi, ma anche e soprattutto per garantire la sopravvivenza di quei patrimoni antichi che sono chiamati a preservare.
