P.Oxy XVII 2089 is a parchment fragment from the central part of a bifolium, bearing a legal text, adespota and anepigraphic. A new critical edition is here provided with a commentary, which sheds new light on its forms and contents, evolution of legal discipline, the possible authorship and literary genre, as well as datation, with suggestive differences from earlier scholarship.
