The essay gives a picture of Italian Catholics' attitude in front of the Fascist racial laws and the Holocaust. It examines the relations between Catholics and Jews in Italy before Hitler's seizure of power, the way in which Italian Catholics reacted to the spreading of anti-Semitic racism in the 1930s, and their reaction to the introduction of the Fascist racial laws. The conclusions are devoted to the issue of the consequences of those premises in the Catholic attitude in front of the persecution of the Jews.
