The excellent relations between Italy and the United States seemed to strenghten when, in 1917, the U.S. declared war on Germany. Expectations in Italy grew and president Wilson became a hero for Italian nationalists. However, as the U.S. government choices left the Italian ally to the margins of the American committment in the war, the once meaninfgul American population in the country began to thin. The essay analyzes the attitude of those Americans who remained in the country despite the changing scenario of the war and how they contributed to the Italian struggle for the completion of the national aspirations begun with the Risorgimento.

However, as the U.S. government choices left the Italian ally to the margins of the American committment in the war, the once meaninfgul American population in the country began to thin. The essay analyzes the attitude of those Americans who remained in the country despite the changing scenario of the war and how they contributed to the Italian struggle for the completion of the national aspirations begun with the Risorgimento.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
