The epigraphic documentation offers important information on the Dionysia at Iasos and the musical and dramatic contests which took place at them. The theater was probably constructed in the third century BCE and completed and in part restored in the second. Records of the performances go back to the third century but especially informative are some inscriptions from the second, which list individual contributions to their funding and include the names and specialisms of the artistes employed and the number of days for which they were paid. The contests must have lasted at least six days; the displays that received the most private funding were the comedies, which may have occupied more days of the festival than the other contests.

Abstract
The epigraphic documentation offers important information on the Dionysia at Iasos and the musical and dramatic contests which took place at them. The theater was probably constructed in the third century BCE and completed and in part restored in the second. Records of the performances go back to the third century but especially informative are some inscriptions from the second, which list individual contributions to their funding and include the names and specialisms of the artistes employed and the number of days for which they were paid. The contests must have lasted at least six days; the displays that received the most private funding were the comedies, which may have occupied more days of the festival than the other contests.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
