This contribution focuses on the methodologies used for virtual reconstruction of cultural heritage with the aim of representing the different phases of the construction process. These methodologies take part of the main research that relates the theory of the architectonical project with the execution of the real building, throughout the analysis of the construction of baroque oval domes and the temporary constructions and centrings used during the process. Considered the tool to ascertain the geometric correspondence between the theoretical form and the realized form, centrings are the first reality in which the project becomes before the real building is done. Being adaptable to different cases of study, this methodology allows to extend the knowledge of ancient structures and offers the tools for a better readability of the monuments, through the integration of models and digital images with virtual and real augmented reality systems.
