This article presents a methodological introduction to the evaluation of ISI calls. In particular, it describes the cognitive purposes, the evaluation questions and the choices that led to the decisions in view of an impact evaluation. In addition to the decisions to be taken in order to decide the funding recipients, it explains how important the security culture is as well as the advantages companies could reach applying ISI calls. All the main characteristics of ISI calls are explained, too
