We study an agent-based model to describe the formation of opinions within a group, where agents belong to classes. In the model any agent influences all the other agents at the same time, and the influence is proportional to the difference of opinions through interaction coefficients. We find that the interaction coefficients must lie within a tetrahedron for the internal consistency of the model. We show that the system of agents reaches a steady state. The long-term opinion of each agents depends anyway on its initial opinion.

Abstract

We study an agent-based model to describe the formation of opinions within a group, where agents belong to classes. In the model any agent influences all the other agents at the same time, and the influence is proportional to the difference of opinions through interaction coefficients. We find that the interaction coefficients must lie within a tetrahedron for the internal consistency of the model. We show that the system of agents reaches a steady state. The long-term opinion of each agents depends anyway on its initial opinion.
