Umanesimo e scienza per il patrimonio culturale

Gathered together in this volume are the dissertations from the first cycle of the Master’s degree “Scientific tools in support of the knowledge and safeguarding of cultural heritage”. This year-long post-graduate degree, is a “slimmer” version of the two-year Master’s degree for “Expertise in the evaluation and safeguarding of cultural heritage”. The key element in both of the above post-graduate programmes is the focus given to the work itself – a material object belonging to our cultural heritage – fashioned through both technological and cultural processes. In consequence, the studies are based on the dialogue between different methodologies and disciplines, in line with the objectives of the DTC – the Centre of Excellence for cultural heritage of the Lazio region. This also occurs in practice, in the first-hand analysis of case-studies, which we are able to carry out thanks to the synergy between public and private institutions with a long track-record in the field of cultural heritage, but especially thanks to MiBACT and the Command of the Carabinieri for the Protection of Cultural Heritage. Art-historical analysis – which ranges from antiquity to the contemporary – together with knowledge of the legislation and of analytical diagnostic technologies, are the perspectives which converge in the two Master programmes taught at Roma Tre, and it is the interaction between these three sectors which characterises the research presented in this volume.

Il volume raccoglie gli atti del primo ciclo di studi del master “Strumenti scientifici di supporto alla conoscenza e alla tutela del patrimonio culturale”. Questo corso, di secondo livello e di durata annuale, rappresenta una articolazione “più snella” del master biennale per “Esperti nelle attività di valutazione e di tutela del patrimonio culturale”. L’elemento fondante del processo formativo, per entrambi i percorsi post lauream sopra ricordati, consiste nel porre l’unità del bene culturale – fatto di materia plasmata da processi tecnologici e culturali – al centro dell’attenzione e, di conseguenza, nel basare lo studio sul dialogo tra metodi e discipline, in linea con l’obiettivo del DTC – Centro di eccellenza sui beni culturali della Regione Lazio. Ciò avviene anche nella concretezza dell’analisi diretta di casi di studio, che è possibile effettuare grazie alla sinergia con istituzioni pubbliche e private di lunga esperienza nel settore dei beni culturali, ma soprattutto con il MiBACT e il Comando Carabinieri per la Tutela del Patrimonio Culturale. L’analisi storico-artistica (dall’antichità al contemporaneo), la conoscenza legislativa, l’informazione sulle tecnologie diagnostiche, sono le prospettive che convergono, in particolare, nella didattica dei due master attivi a Roma Tre e l’interazione tra questi tre settori d’indagine caratterizza tutte le ricerche qui di seguito presentate.
