This volume springs from the conviction that there is a need to rethink our contemporary interaction with Hegelian philosophy. This need for a renewed comparison with Hegel intends to bring out elements of his philosophy that have not yet been adequately explored – such as the role attributed to the unconscious, to mental illness and to the feminine – as well as latent resonances of his conception of the absolute spirit. Similarly, we intend to take stock of Hegel’s legacy both in the feminist debate and more generally in the philosophy of the twentieth century, divided between rejection of Hegelianism and reconciliation with it

Abstract

This volume springs from the conviction that there is a need to rethink our contemporary interaction with Hegelian philosophy. This need for a renewed comparison with Hegel intends to bring out elements of his philosophy that have not yet been adequately explored – such as the role attributed to the unconscious, to mental illness and to the feminine – as well as latent resonances of his conception of the absolute spirit. Similarly, we intend to take stock of Hegel’s legacy both in the feminist debate and more generally in the philosophy of the twentieth century, divided between rejection of Hegelianism and reconciliation with it
