The text develops the relationship between history and conservation considering, in the design practice of the latter, the centrality of operating the ‘recognition of value’ through the historical critical method. With reference to the disciplinary orientations, matured since the eighties of the twentieth century, the ‘processual historiography’ indicates the cultural foundation of an ongoing research on the city of Rome, evaluated in the territory of its Metropolitan Area. The research topic is the Urban Historical Landscape, analyzed and documented in relation to its architectural, archaeological and anthropological components through the formation of a digital Dynamic Atlas, based on a geographic support. Abstract
This constitutes an efficient methodological model, exportable and compliant to the regulatory framework for the enhancing of the BBCC (Cultural Heritage) and in harmony with European culture about the landscape, the material and immaterial cultural heritage, the heritage education.
