This article examines the historical origins of the divide between liberal and scientific naturalism, with a particular focus on the early phases of the scientific revolution. It addresses the central challenges these perspectives face in contemporary debate. To illuminate these issues, various versions of both conceptions are analyzed, highlighting their respective strengths and limitations.
