Recent findings from research into dictionary use carried out that foreign language learners still look up single words; phraseological items/ units are neglected. After a short summery of the most important facts regarding the look-ups in online dictionaries and mobile devices this contribution offers concrete proposals for an explicit and implicit teaching of dictionary use in order to increase the students’ dictionary use awareness. A comparison between dictionaries, parallel texts and corpora is playing a crucial role in this regard.

Abstract
Recent findings from research into dictionary use carried out that foreign language learners still look up single words; phraseological items/ units are neglected. After a short summery of the most important facts regarding the look-ups in online dictionaries and mobile devices this contribution offers concrete proposals for an explicit and implicit teaching of dictionary use in order to increase the students’ dictionary use awareness. A comparison between dictionaries, parallel texts and corpora is playing a crucial role in this regard.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
