The contribution aims to explore the issue of rights commonly associated to the idea of administrative citizenship, with a focus on transnational situations. Through an analysis of rulings whose common trait is to deal with cases where the enhancement of rights rests upon a country other than the one where someone holds nationality but in which he (or she) resides, the study shows strengths, gaps and inconsistencies in the affirmation of administrative rights. Therefore, despite its constitutive complexity, our findings highlight that administrative citizenship proves crucial as a legitimizing status specifically in transnational conditions, and suggest the need to investigate further on its controversial relationship with the concept of political citizenship.

Abstract
The contribution aims to explore the issue of rights commonly associated to the idea of administrative citizenship, with a focus on transnational situations. Through an analysis of rulings whose common trait is to deal with cases where the enhancement of rights rests upon a country other than the one where someone holds nationality but in which he (or she) resides, the study shows strengths, gaps and inconsistencies in the affirmation of administrative rights. Therefore, despite its constitutive complexity, our findings highlight that administrative citizenship proves crucial as a legitimizing status specifically in transnational conditions, and suggest the need to investigate further on its controversial relationship with the concept of political citizenship.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
