La produzione pittorica di Antonio Servillo. Un caso esemplare di risemantizzazione del Surrealismo al tempo della postmodernità. The pictorial production of Antonio Servillo. A case study on resemantization of Surrealism at the time of postmodernity

This volume analyzes and puts in context the pictorial production of Antonio Servillo, which may for stylistical reasons be defined as 'surrealist' without being related to the homonymous movement, born as artistic avantgarde in the first half of the twentieth century, due to the changed cultural horizon in which the artist was born and lives. The assimilation of the teachings by the artistic experiences which got developed in the postmodern age (from Pop Art to Op Art) is also detected in the pictorial work of Antonio Servillo, and it is at the same time put in continuity with the past not reducing it though to mere quotationism. Crucial, for the artist’s vision and stylistical choices, is the relation with the own historical context.

In questo volume viene analizzata e contestualizzata la produzione pittorica di Antonio Servillo, definendola surrealista per motivi stilistici, senza tuttavia ricondurla all’omonimo movimento nato come avanguardia artistica nella prima metà del XX secolo, a causa del mutato orizzonte culturale in cui ha vissuto e vive l’artista. Nell’opera pittorica di Antonio Servillo è inoltre individuata l’assimilazione dell’insegnamento di esperienze artistiche sviluppatesi nel periodo postmoderno (dalla Pop Art alla Op Art), pur ponendola in continuità con l’arte del passato, e, al tempo stesso, non riducendola a mero citazionismo. Decisivo, per la visione e le scelte stilistiche dell’artista, è considerato il rapporto con il proprio contesto storico.
