Blockchain technology can be applied in different economic sectors as it can bring radical change to the industries in which it is implemented. This chapter analyses how this technology can be applied by businesses to achieve sustainability goals. The scholars have mainly focused on analysing the technological development of blockchain applications by analysing them from a predominantly IT and engineering point of view and have shown that blockchain is able to bring numerous benefits to the industries in which it is adopted. The aim of the chapter is to illustrate, through case studies, how some companies are adopting blockchain to achieve sustainable goals. Analysis has shown that research on the topic is still at an early stage, but evidence suggests that the technology will be adopted by a growing number of companies and individuals. In view of the fact that the study aims to offer one of the first insights into the adoption of blockchain technology in support of sustainability, it is believed that its findings may be of interest to both academics and practitioners.
