The article aims to interpret the name of the city imagined as a child by Luca Serianni (and then used in his e-mail address) as a sort of blend which has an obelisco ‘obelisk’ as its second component and a word starting with band- as its first component, such as banderuola ‘weather vane’ (perhaps also with the inclusion of elica ‘propeller’), bandiera ‘flag’, banda (in various meanings), bando ‘ban’, bandito ‘bandit’. The text ends with a reference to the scholar’s Arcadian name.
