The article deals with the distinction between event nouns and result nouns in Ancient Greek, with a focus on the forms derived through the -σις suffix. The equivalence with the categories of nomina actionis and nomina rei actae is discussed, and the relevance of using diagnostics developed in theoretical linguistics to distinguish the two types of nominalization is assessed.
