The book undertakes a linguistic and translation analysis of substantives which have been handed down only in texts attributed to Notker III of St. Gallen (950 -1002). The corpus has been separated and evaluated in order to define the complex relationship between the traditional Old High German lexicon and the creative skills of the scholar, as well as to establish the distinct strategies underlying the lexical composition. This survey reveals the strength of the notkerian lexicon and its excellent mimesis in the Old High German Worschatz by identifying the polisemy of some lemmas and their autonomy from the Latin model, and other apparently gratuitous lemmas.

Abstract
The book undertakes a linguistic and translation analysis of substantives which have been handed down only in texts attributed to Notker III of St. Gallen (950 -1002). The corpus has been separated and evaluated in order to define the complex relationship between the traditional Old High German lexicon and the creative skills of the scholar, as well as to establish the distinct strategies underlying the lexical composition. This survey reveals the strength of the notkerian lexicon and its excellent mimesis in the Old High German Worschatz by identifying the polisemy of some lemmas and their autonomy from the Latin model, and other apparently gratuitous lemmas.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
