Abstract
The transition from Etruscan to Roman tomb types in ancient Etruria has never been systematically studied. The paper is no more than a preliminary attempt to understand this phenomenon, drawing on a desperately scattered evidence. Despite their diverse historical trajectories, the Etruscan cities seem to show a conspicuously uniform behavior. The traditional tomb types and burial customs seem to have persisted almos everywhere until the age of Augustus, while purely Roman necropoleis appeared in the Etruscan cities not earlier than the late Augustan or early Tiberian period.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
