This paper aims to throw light on the history of the Roman Central Warehouses, which was one of the most important hubs of the Ostiense area (the first industrial area of the city) in the early twentieth century. The study intends to illustrate the origins, construction, development and decline of the Roman Docks, taking into account the restoration and conversion of historic buildings, currently in use as the headquarters of the Istituto Superiore Antincendi (Department of the Firefighters).
