The essay deals with the reactions of Albanian students and cadets who were in Italy for study purposes to the fascist occupation of Albania in April 1939. In most cases, bewilderment and concern were followed by feelings of anger that in some cases resulted in open opposition to the project of uniting the two countries imposed by Mussolini. Almost never was it a question of coordinated opposition, but of isolated gestures which, however, represented the first concrete manifestation of the general hostility shown by the Albanian public opinion - and, above all, of the most conscious - to the loss of independence of their Country.
