INTRODUZIONE: UN DIZIONARIO AL FEMMINILE.

In the following pages, we have looked at the person on the basis of his/her instances of recognition of a scientific contribution characterized in the sense of ‘gender embodied’, without interpretative limits connected to social categories but, rather, underlining the contribution of female thought provided in this sense. With the Dictionary of Gender whose entries present a rigorously feminine bibliography ‒we have set ourselves the objective of ‘fixing our gaze’ on themes of classical and/or ‘emerging’ sociological interest declined from a perspective that wants to be understood as ‘feminine’. This epistemic stance had a dual purpose: 1. on the one hand, to give full citizenship to a sociological categorization capable, on the basis of 'sociological cognitivism', of referring to scholars who have addressed issues with a scientific tension characterizing femal thought; 2. on the other, through the entries that make up the Dictionary, to highlight the importance of themes and problems that in the history of sociological thought have not found citizenship or have been investigated from an eminently male point of view and, therefore, by male scholars rather than female scholars; or have often been considered as not foundational for sociology itself, because they characterize a gender approach. The basic choice on which we agreed as a Working Group, which we shared with colleagues whom we then involved and invited to write one or more ‘lemmas’ was to address each entry from a feminine gender perspective, which took into account women’s research and experience, not only in the elaboration of the concept but also in the recognition of scholars and recognition of their skills, as specialists in the subject: each lemma is conjugated in the feminine.

Nelle pagine che seguono si è guardato alla persona sulla base delle sue istanze di riconoscimento di un portato scientifico connotato nel senso di ‘gender embodied’,senza limiti interpretativi connessi a catego-rie sociali ma, anzi, sottolineando l’apporto del pensiero femminile fornito in tal senso. Con il Dizionario di Generei cui lemmi presentano una biblio-grafia rigorosamente femminile ‒ci siamo poste l’obiettivo di ‘fissare lo sguardo’ su temi di interesse sociologico classico e/o ‘emergente’declinati da una prospettiva che vuole intendersi come ‘al femminile’. Tale presa di posizione di natura epistemica ha avuto un duplice scopo: 1.per un verso, dare piena cittadinanza ad una categorizzazione socio-logica in grado, sulla base del ‘cognitivismo sociologico’,di fare ri-ferimento a studiose che hanno affrontato temi con una tensione scientifica caratterizzante il femal thought;2.per un altro, attraverso i lemmi che compongono il Dizionario, evi-denziare l’importanza di temi e problematiche che nella storia del pensiero sociologico non hanno trovato cittadinanza o sono stati in-dagati da un punto di vista eminentemente maschile e, quindi, da stu-diosi piuttosto che da studiose; oppure sono stati spesso ritenuti come non fondativi per la stessa sociologia, perché caratterizzanti un approccio di genere. La scelta di fondo sulla quale abbiamo concordato come Gruppo di La-voro, che abbiamo condiviso con le colleghe e i colleghi che poi abbiamo coinvolto e invitato a scrivere uno o più ‘lemmi’è stata quella di affrontare ciascuna voce nella prospettiva di genere al femminile, che tenesse conto della ricerca e dell’esperienza delle donne, non solo nell’elaborazione del concetto ma anche nella ricognizione delle studiose e riconoscimento delle loro competenze, in quanto specialiste nell’argomento: ogni lemma è coniu-gato al femminile.
