Beyond the feminist approach: Integrating feminine capital and care without sacrifice in the JEDI framework for sustainable employability

This chapter discusses the ongoing discrimination against women in workplaces and calls for immediate action to address issues such as equal pay, insurance, social security, and lasting education, to ensure women's rights and reduce exploitation and discrimination. The contribution revolves around the concept of ‘‘feminine capital”, which includes the vital element of “care”, stressing the importance of women's work–family–life balance. The chapter delves into “self-sacrifice” as an economic motivator, which is particularly prevalent in less developed countries with pronounced gender inequality. The contribution stems from the work done in the Women for Economy Village inside the Economy of Francesco initiative. The village gathers researchers from around the globe who are interested in gender inequality and women's role in the economy and society. The village addresses the crucial role of women in society, highlighting the necessity for women to have access to professional training and emphasizing that work structures should respect their dignity and vocation. This chapter aims to foster academic discourse that empowers women and helps them balance household and work commitments, ultimately enhancing their overall well-being.
