Il costruito storico di Tolfa: caratteri identitari e prospettive di recupero e valorizzazione

In this book are published the results of a research entitled "Valorization of the heritage of the historic village of Tolfa with particular attention to historical buildings" held between January 2023 and May 2025 on the basis of a collaboration agreement between the Municipality of Tolfa and the Departments of Architecture of the University Roma Tre as part of the PRNN Project "Il Borgo di Tolfa tra artigianato e turismo" financed by decree of allocation n. 453 of 7.06.2022. The research has been developed by an interdisciplinary working group in which teachers from the Department are involved in the Disciplinary Areas of Restoration, Architectural and Urban Design and Relief and Representation. The aim of the research was to develop a study of the architectural and environmental heritage of the historic center of Tolfa, aimed at putting the community in a position to recognize and understand the values inherent in their living environment. The project has a twofold objective: on the one hand, to provide local authorities, professionals and businesses with an operational tool useful for improving the quality of projects on built and public spaces; able to improve the life of the inhabitants without compromising the preservation of the identity characteristics of the consolidated urban structure; on the other hand, to enhance and disseminate the qualities of a heritage considered "minor", promoting sustainable tourism that is aware of the artistic and cultural value expressed by these places.

In questo volume sono pubblicati i risultati di una ricerca dal titolo “Valorizzazione del patrimonio del borgo storico di Tolfa con particolare attenzione ai palazzi storici” svolta tra gennaio 2023 e maggio 2025 in base a un accordo di collaborazione tra il Comune Tolfa e il Dipartimenti di Architettura dell’Università Roma Tre nell’ambito del Progetto PRNN "Il Borgo di Tolfa tra artigianato e turismo" finanziato con decreto di assegnazione n. 453 del 7.06.2022. La ricerca è stata sviluppata da un gruppo di lavoro interdisciplinare in cui sono coinvolti docenti del Dipartimento afferenti ai Settori Disciplinari del Restauro, della Progettazione architettonica e urbana e del Rilievo e rappresentazione. Obiettivo della ricerca è stato quello di sviluppare uno studio del patrimonio architettonico e ambientale del centro storico di Tolfa, finalizzato a mettere la comunità nelle condizioni di riconoscere e comprendere i valori insiti nel proprio ambiente di vita. Il progetto si propone un duplice scopo: da un lato, fornire alle autorità locali, ai professionisti e alle imprese uno strumento operativo utile per accrescere la qualità dei progetti sul costruito e sugli spazi pubblici, in grado di migliorare la vita degli abitanti senza compromettere la conservazione dei caratteri identitari della struttura urbana consolidata; dall’altro, valorizzare e diffondere le qualità di un patrimonio considerato “minore”, promuovendo un turismo sostenibile e consapevole del valore artistico e culturale espresso da questi luoghi.
