Studi di cinema e media explores the encounter between moving images and music, outlining an interdisciplinary journey across cinema, visual arts, remix culture, and multimedia performance. The volume's contributions examine contemporary audiovisual forms—from the music video to the visual album, from VJing to live soundtracking—highlighting processes of hybridization, remediation, and synesthesia. Drawing on perspectives ranging from cultural studies to media archaeology, this dossier challenges the traditional hierarchy between the visual and the sonic, emphasizing the significance of their mutual interaction. It thus offers a critical reflection on the convergence of analog, electronic, and digital media, shedding light on the aesthetic and conceptual transformations of the audiovisual experience in contemporary culture.
