This essay presents a research experience focused on investigating the processes that shape urban form and its constituent architecture over time, as expressions of history, culture, and social dynamics. The research approach is related to enhancing security, serving as an educational tool for raising the community’s awareness of heritage. It is conducted through a Design Research methodological approach1, which involves utilizing the architect’s design skills within a method of scientific analysis of architectural culture, aimed at generating knowledge-based data that can be experimentally verified and replicated in controlled and appropriate contexts. Thus, the project becomes a platform for the methodological production of knowledge, facilitating the identification and subsequent definition of paradigmatic, compositional, performance, and technical constants that have historically shaped the urban environment and its architectural fabric.
